Was there a Budweiser Super Bowl 2023 commercial?
Yes, there was a Budweiser commercial at the 2023 Super Bowl with the iconic Clydesdale horses. But you might have missed the horses because they had a small role in the ad.
Titled ‘Six degrees of Bud’, the commercial features a group of people who enjoy a great time together by sharing the same beer and “same spirit”, the brand explains.
However, the commercial has a subtle nod to the beloved Clydesdale horses which might explain why some viewers thought they were not featured at the Super Bowl this year. They appear on a small television screen in the first few seconds of the ad.
The 2023 commercial is narrated by actor Kevin Bacon. Watch down below and catch a glimpse of the legendary horses:
Viewers disappointed about Clydesdale horses
As some viewers were baffled over this year’s Budweiser commercial, others were disappointed that the ad didn’t feature more of the iconic Clydesdale horses.
One person reacted: “Just had to look up the Budweiser Super Bowl commercial this year (did they even air it?!?) and I’m legitimately mad. How many years in a row is that without a puppy or a horsey?”
Another confused fan asked: “Was there a Super Bowl commercial this year with Clydesdales [horses]? I didn’t see one but maybe I missed it.”
A third viewer wrote: “Also, Super Bowl, missed very much the @Budweiser Clydesdales.”
Someone else asked: “What happened to the usual Budweiser ads? A Super Bowl without the horses?”
Budweiser skipped 2021 Super Bowl
In 2021, Budweiser skipped the Super Bowl commercial slot among the likes of other companies like while the world was dealing with a global pandemic.
In partnership with the Ad Council, the brand decided to “reallocate the media investment” to raise awareness about the covid vaccine.
Budweiser vice president of marketing Monica Rustgi said in a statement at the time: “Like everyone else, we are eager to get people back together, reopen restaurants and bars, and be able to gather to cheers with friends and family.
“To do this, and to bring consumers back into neighborhood bars and restaurants that were hit exceptionally hard by the pandemic, we’re stepping in to support critical awareness of the COVID-19 vaccine.”
