Which OTT streaming platform has acquired the digital rights for Varisu and on what date will the action blockbuster release for home media?
2023 may only be in its second month, but the year has already been a wildly successful one for the Indian cinema industry thanks to the likes of Pathaan, Thunivu, and Varisu becoming multi-national blockbusters.
However, whilst Varisu did make an impressive offering at the box office during its theatrical run, many fans may not have been able to visit their local cinema; instead, waiting for the home media release.
Thankfully, the release date and OTT streaming platform for the Varisu feature film have finally been confirmed – here is everything that fans need to know about the home media launch.
Varisu OTT release date and streaming platform confirmed
The OTT streaming rights for the Varisu movie have been sold to Amazon Prime Video, with the satellite distribution rights being sold to Sun NXT.
Varisu will release for OTT streaming via Amazon Prime Video and Sun NXT on Wednesday, February 22.
Whilst a specific release time has not been confirmed, fans can expect the movie to be made available at either 12 AM IST or 10:30 AM IST, in accordance with the platform’s typical update window for original content.
Varisu will release with Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam language dubbing options available.

The Times of India reports that the non-theatrical rights (including OTT, digital, and audio) were sold for a whopping Rs 150 Crore.
Incredibly, this means that Varisu had almost broken even prior to the global premiere on January 11, with an original set budget of Rs 200 Crore. The movie would ultimately earn around RS 300 Crore from the global box office collections.
Global distribution partners explained
The Times of India has reported that the pre-premiere non-theatrical rights, which include audio dubbings, digital streaming, and satellite broadcast rights, were sold for Rs 150 Crore.
The theatrical rights were also then sold for around Rs 139 Crore; with overseas tallying up to more than Rs 35 Crore.
