iWireless Center will remain the iWireless Center… at least for the time being. Executive director Scott Mullen tells Local 4 News that the venue has signed an extension with iWireless to the naming contract, which allows the venue the right to change the name if another sponsor comes along.

The venue, which opened in 1993 as the Mark of the Quad-Cities, but the name was changed in 2007, when iWireless purchased the naming rights for the facility.

Mullen says the last contract had a price of $425,000 a year — plus $17,000 in trade — but declined to disclose the value attached to the contract extension, except to say there is compensation.

Mullen says the venue continues to seek other partners.
