Right before kickoff of Sunday night's Vikings-Packers showdown, a shirtless Kirk Cousins sounded the Gjallarhorn and got the home crowd fired up beyond belief.

Cousins was announced as the Gjallarhorn sounder with a brief video on the giant scoreboards inside the stadium. Then, when the camera cut to him and his son Cooper, Cousins ripped off his shirt to reveal a big gold chain — a callback to last season's "Kirko Chainz" alter ego.

The crowd went absolutely wild.

Cousins tore his Achilles in Week 8 at Lambeau Field. Prior to that injury, he was having one of the best seasons of his career, playing at a borderline MVP level in his second year with Kevin O'Connell. Despite his season being cut short, Cousins has remained present in the Vikings' facility and was back on the sideline for last week's game against the Lions.

It's unclear what the future holds for Cousins, who is set to hit free agency after this season. But if one thing is clear, it's that there is a strong mutual love between him, the Vikings organization, and the entire fan base. Cousins wants to spend the rest of his career with the Vikings, if it works out. And while the last six years haven't exactly gone to plan, this fan base loves Cousins more than ever right now.

We'll see what happens this spring.
