Risperidone is an antipsychotic. I have no experience with this particular drug but my husband was prescribed a different antipsychotic and I understand why they are prescribed.
I believe they are prescribed cautiously because of the nature of the drug. There are side effects of all antipsychotics which can range from mild to severe depending on the individual, their make up, other drugs they may be taking and other underlying health issues.
If you have any concerns about Risperidone please refer back to your doctor. If side effects are severe a different drug may be trialled. Don`t let the person taking the drug suffer unnecessarily. It needs to have some benefit otherwise it`s not worth taking.
