American music executive Scooter Braun lost his star clients Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato a few months after Colombian singer J Balvin parted ways with his company.
A big news story has emerged from the music industry today. Pop star Ariana Grande has parted ways with his longtime manager Scooter Braun who managed her since 2013. After the news of Ariana’s exit, it was also reported that Demi Lovato was searching for a new management label after splitting from Scooter’s firm last month. The news of the Thanku Next singer’s exit comes amid rumors that Scooter’s biggest client Justin Bieber may also part ways with him. Amid the new reports, many fans are looking back to how J Balvin also parted ways with Scooter Braun’s company a few months ago.
J Balvin split with Scooter Braun in May 2023
J Balvin who signed Scooter’s SB Projects in 2019 parted ways with him just four years later in May 2023.
Announcing Balvin’s addition to his clientele in 2019, Scooter said “We are very excited to be working with my long-time friend J Balvin.” His statement to Billboard further read, “He is not only an incredible talent, but his work ethic and creativity are what has allowed him to be one of the top global acts in any language.” The musician, on the other hand, said, “We are READY TO MAKE HISTORY,” announcing his partnership with SB Projects.
The In Da Getto singer signed with Scooter in 2019 after splitting with his longtime former manager Rebeca León. Balvin and Rebeca had worked together since the start of his career. During his time with Scooter’s management company, the Colombian singer was able to bag some big collaborations with the likes of McDonald’s, Nike, and Michael Jordan. He famously became the first Latin singer to participate in Fortnite’s metaverse in 2020.
Colombian singer joined Jay-Z’s Roc Nation
Shortly after leaving Scooter’s management firm, Balvin inked a deal with Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation management. The news of the deal broke shortly after Balvin left SB Projects. As per Billboard, executives Jay Brown and Chris Knight. will handle Balvin’s new contract. Many know that Roc Nation is their dream management label for many musicians. The company founded by rapper Jay-Z in 2008 hosts big names like Alicia Keys, Big Sean, Christina Aguilera, DJ Khaled, and more now.
Jay-Z’s entertainment agency updated its roster including the Mi Gente singer in the list. His bio on their website reads, “Global superstar, entrepreneur, and committed mental health advocate, J Balvin, is a highly decorated music icon with wins across Billboard Music Awards, American Music Awards, Latin Grammys, and many others.”

Although the 42-year-old has lost some of his big clients, his company still manages many big celebrities. He still manages Justin Bieber. His other famous clients are Idina Menzel, Ashley Graham, Ava Max, Carly Rae Jepsen, Kaliii, Lil Dicky, Tori Kelly, and more.
Most recently Justin denied rumors had he had split with Scooter and was looking for a new management. In a statement to Daily Mail, a spokesperson said: “Reps for all parties confirm this is not true.”
Scooter is famously known to have scouted Justin as a 13-year-old.
