For months, music fans have been obsessed with Heardle and there’s now a new version to try.

The online music game went viral following the Wordle craze and involves guessing a popular song using a small snippet of the introduction.

Your aim is to work out the song’s title and artist by hearing as little of the song as possible, but you can press ‘skip’ and reveal more of the track if you need to.

Only one song gets released every day and players are often left wishing they could guess more tracks as the game is so addictive.

That’s where Heardle Decades comes in, which allows you to do exactly that…

What is Heardle Decades?

Heardle Decades is a new online music game that has taken over the internet in August 2022 as “your daily dose of name that tune”.

Despite the name, it’s not affiliated with the real Heardle game in any way, but follows the same premise of guessing songs by hearing a snippet.

However, rather than only being able to guess one Heardle each day, you can guess a song for every single category.

There are different decade categories to choose from, ranging from the 60s to 00s, as well as specific artists like Duran Duran and Wham.

Once you’ve completed all the genres, you can come back tomorrow and guess a new song for each one.

How to play Heardle Decades

Playing Heardle Decades is really easy. All you have to do is go to the website here.

Then, click on the category you want to play and you will be taken to a game board that looks identical to the original Heardle game.

Now tap the play button to hear the first snippet of the song, then type the song and artist in to the box and press submit to find the correct song.

If you’re stuck, tap skip to hear more of the track, but remember the aim of the game is to guess the song using the least number of tries.

A wrong guess will be the same as a skip, and you’ve got six skips in total before the answer will be revealed and you’ve failed the level.

You can share your score

Like the original Heardle, there is also an option to share your score on social media.

After you’ve guessed the song, a box will pop up that tells you how many seconds you managed to get it in. Underneath is a share button which will copy the result do your clipboard.

Now all you have to do is go to your chosen social media site, like Facebook or Twitter, and paste the result into a new status or tweet.

Your result will then be shared with your friends or followers in the form of small coloured boxes and a link to the Heardle Decades site will appear underneath.
