If you are an avid TikTok or Instagram user, you must have come across the spider filter prank that’s going viral on social media these days.

Most viral TikToks feature some new food trends like the ‘Green Goddess Salad’ or a glow-up trend such as the ‘Puff Puff pass.’

However, every once in a while, a prank video goes viral and jet-sets a whole new variety of videos that are beyond fun to watch.

How to do the hilarious spider filter prank

Most TikTok videos featuring this hilarious trend sees users pranking their partners with the app’s spider filter. It was started by TikTok user ‘galandjosh,’ who used the audio that says: “Trying this spider filter on my BF.”

Here’s how you can get in on this hilarious prank:

  1. Open TikTok and tap the ‘discover’ button in the bottom bar.
  2. In the search bar, type ‘spider filter’.
  3. Select a video that has used the filter. Above their username, it will say ‘spider’ in an orange box.
  4. Click on the orange filter box and press ‘try this effect’.
  5. Now start recording your video and the spider will begin crawling across your screen.

Given the giant size of the spider, people who are caught off-guard by the filter react hilariously to it, with many even slapping their faces in panic.

Snapchat’s spider filter looks even scarier

A similar spider filter was first introduced on Snapchat back in 2019.

The app introduced a variety of spider filters, with the most popular one being a black and brown coloured spider, which is larger in size than the one on TikTok.

Many users pranked their toddlers with the filter, which often led to the little kids bursting into tears.
