Moline firefighters quickly extinguished a garage that was fully engulfed in fire last night.

The Moline Fire Department was called to a structure fire in the 1800 block of 46th Street on February 18 at about 9:35 p.m. First responders arrived in three minutes and found an unattached garage that was fully engulfed in flames, but not near other structures. The first arriving fire company began an aggressive attack on the fire, while the next arriving fire company supplied water to crews and assisted with fire extinguishment. The fire was brought under control in about 20 minutes, but crews remained on scene for about an hour, completing an overhaul of the area and looking for hidden fires still burning.

No residents were displaced due to the fire and no injuries were reported by firefighters or residents. The initial Moline Fire response included 17 on-duty personnel in three engine companies, an aerial unit, a command vehicle and two ambulances. The East Moline, Rock Island and Arsenal Fire Departments provided further assistance, as did the Moline Second Alarmers and MidAmerican Energy.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Moline Fire Department Bureau of Investigations.
