Fans on social media are reacting to news that an unusual Coca Cola x Bleach drink collaboration beverage has gone on sale in Japan.
Anime or manga collaborations with soft drinks and food services are pretty commonplace in Japan, as different franchises battle for spots on the shelves.
Typically, it’s Pepsi that create anime collaboration products, most famously the Sakura Pepsi, Yuzu Pepsi, and Ghost Pepsi beverages.
However, Coca Cola have now entered the mixer with their own collaboration with Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War – but what is this drink all about and where can you Bankai-buy it?

Coca Cola releases special Bleach collab flavor
Coca Cola’s latest collaboration is with the Bleach: Thousand Year Blood war anime series.
Coca Cola x Bleach’s official flavor is called ‘Soul Blast’ and is part of the Coke Zero Sugar lineup – don’t worry, it doesn’t contain any cleaning supplies or toxic chemicals associated with household bleach.
“Coke Creations Vol. 2! Soul Blast” is a brand new coke experience born from the collaboration with “BLEACH” that has the world in a frenzy. The moment you hold it in your hand or taste it, you will feel your strongest self that no one knows yet.” – cocacola.jp.
Whilst these drinks were only made available to purchase in Japan, SugoiMart currently lists the beverage for $10 for a 255ml can. Other drinks on the website include the Tokyo Revengers x Dydo Coffee, and Chainsaw Man x Zone Energy.
NapaJapan also lists the Bleach drink on its website for sale to the US, noting that “actual taste of the beverage is a mystery.”
Until November 6, there is also a pop-up shop in Shinjuku, Tokyo, selling merchandise, drinks, and even fashion items.
Fans react to the Coke x Ichigo collaboration
The internet has had mixed reactions to the Coca Cola x Bleach collaboration, with one tweet going viral that questioned the word choice on the product’s tag-line, “Ever wondered what Bleach tastes like?”
Responses to this tweet included “I can’t believe this is real lmao”, “poh yum coca cola mixed with bleach, the wording is nuts”, and “it makes your teeth white again!”
“So One Piece is getting custom cups at Carl’s Jr… COCA COLA, of all things, is getting a Bleach crossover… Sure seems like these shows are getting massively popular enough to earn corporate interest, huh? Sounds like it’s time to have more talks about helping anime #GoUnion.” – Fan response, via Twitter.
