Christi Paul Announced Her Departure From CNN After Working There For 9 Years

Christi Paul, co-host of CNN’s New Year’s Weekend, announced his retirement on Sunday, June 26, following the merger of parent company Warner Media with Discovery. Paul has worked for CNN and its sister station, HLN, for more than two decades. During her last broadcast with CNN, Paul announced that she would be returning to Ohio and working for a local station there. The anchor is from Bellevue, Ohio, which explains her decision to return there. According to sources, Paul’s participation in Sunday’s show will be her last. Meanwhile, Variety reports that many of the presenters will take turns hosting with Boris Sanchez.

The reasons behind Christi Paul’s resignation from CNN

Christi Paul explained her departure to audience and co-host Boris Sanchez during Sunday’s broadcast. The 53-year-old news presenter emotionally replied:

“I am a participant in the Great Resignation.”

Following her announcement, CNN’s chief media reporter, Brian Stelter, announced the news on Twitter. Meanwhile, award-winning journalist and CNN senior producer, Bethany Crudele, rushed to Twitter to express her disappointment at Paul’s passing. Crudele noted in her tweet:

“This morning is a new day, a sad day. @Christi Paul’s last day on our show is today.”

Christi Paul said she had intended to leave as early as January this year. The co-host also said her CNN show airs early in the morning, cutting down on family time. She continued:

“My husband and I glanced at each other and said, ‘We need to go home…’ I’m sick of feeling exhausted.”

Christi Paul has informed her former co-host Boris Sanchez that she will be looking for a position at a small Ohio news station. However, neither CNN nor Paul revealed the identity of the station. Regarding her new workplace, AdWeek said that the Ohio native will reveal the specifics of her next professional move in the coming week.

Christi Paul’s Legacy.

After working as a reporter for WDTV and KTVB, this co-manager joined Warner Media’s network in 2003 and has spent many years hosting on CNN and HLN. The broadcast journalism graduate then worked as a backup anchor for Robin Meade’s Morning Express. Paul co-hosted the CNN news program New Days Weekend for nearly nine years during her time at CNN. After the announcement of her resignation from the network, it became clear why the presenter was leaving. According to Paul’s reasoning, the 53-year-old co-host wants to spend more time with her family in Ohio, which includes her three children, husband Peter Paul and others.
