Damien Harris

Bills running back Damien Harris suffered an injury when tackled by Giants linebacker Bobby Okereke. He had to be removed from the field by an ambulance.

Harris carried the ball for one yard up to the first-down marker and was quickly met by Okereke. He fell to the ground and didn’t get up as medical personnel rushed to attend to him. He remained motionless until an ambulance arrived to transport him.

As Harris was being placed on a stretcher and lifted, he gave a thumbs-up.

This situation was reminiscent of Damar Hamlin’s collapse on the field in Cincinnati during a “Monday Night Football” game just nine months ago, which led to the game’s cancellation due to Hamlin’s cardiac arrest.

Damien Harris Injury Updates:

According to the Bills’ public relations, Harris was immediately ruled out of the game due to a neck injury. The post mentioned he had movement in his arms and legs and would be evaluated at the hospital for further testing.

Harris was tackled by Okereke in what seemed like a routine play at the line of scrimmage after gaining one yard in a crowded huddle at the line of scrimmage.

After the game, coach Sean McDermott stated that Harris’ scans were showing positive signs. He said, to his knowledge, Harris had full movement.

Various thoughts run through your mind, and whether it’s one of your own players or a player from the opposing team, the primary concern is the well-being of the player on the field,” McDermott said. “The game becomes secondary at that point. Fortunately, the reports we’re receiving suggest that he’s making positive progress.”

Both teams immediately signaled for medical staff to come out to the field to assist Harris after the play. He remained on the turf until an ambulance arrived, and personnel secured him to a backboard before loading him into the ambulance for transportation to the hospital.
