Bettendorf Mayor Robert Gallagher delivered the annual state of the city address.
Gallagher said the city is in a strong position, despite a drop in tax revenue from the state.
He says Bettendorf is working to solidify its budget for the next fiscal year after changes to the property tax law in Iowa, adding the city council is considering a slight increase to the tax rate to compensate for that loss in the budget. Gallagher also reported Bettendorf got a 90% satisfaction rating from its residents.
Mayor Gallagher said Bettendorf is sticking to five goals:
- Being financially sound and offering quality services
- Have orderly growth and quality development
- Support the riverfront
- Grow current businesses and attract other businesses
- Be a premiere place to live in the Quad Cities
