The Bears found themselves in need of a long snapper for the last game.
Long snapper Patrick Scales suffered a foot injury in Sunday's win over Atlanta and he couldn't practice Wednesday so the Bears brought in Matt Overton, a former long snapper for the Colts, Jaguars, Titans, Chargers and Cowboys.
Overton was the regular long snapper for the Colts prior to Matt Eberflus' stint with the team as defensive coordinator. He spent most of last year as the Dallas long snapper after being released by the Rams in early September.
The most serious remaining injury situations involving starters included cornerback Jaylon Johnson and wide receiver Darnell Mooney.
Johnson has a shoulder injury and was unable to practice Wednesday. He had missed most of Sunday's win after suffering the injury and was replaced by rookie Terell Smith in the game.
"We'll see where it is," Coach Matt Eberflus said. "It's looking positive. But again, we'll see where it is when we get through the week."
Also Mooney remains in the concussion protocol after missing last week's game with an injury suffered the previous week against Arizona.
Tight end Cole Kmet didn't practice after missing most of Sunday's game. He had a knee injury against Arizona and tried to play on it but could last only for 13 plays against the Falcons.
Backup QB Tyson Bagent was unavailable for practice due to illness.
The Bears have also added wide receiver Collin Johnson to the 53-man roster while waiving linebacker DeMarquis Gates.
