Ashlea Albertson Racing Obituary Indianapolis: Local Indiana racer killed in Friday morning crash on I-65 near Seymour.
In a tragic incident on Friday, a woman from Greenfield lost her life in a collision involving two vehicles on Interstate 65 in Jackson County.
The crash occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the interstate, specifically located just south of Seymour.
According to the Indiana State Police, a tragic incident has resulted in the untimely death of 24-year-old Ashlea Albertson. The cause of her demise has been attributed to the injuries she sustained during the crash.
According to investigators, a 22-year-old male from Austin, Indiana was behind the wheel of a black Chevy Malibu, while a 31-year-old man from Indianapolis was driving a white GMC Terrain. The incident occurred on the interstate, where the Chevy Malibu was reportedly travelling north in the right lane, alongside the GMC Terrain. In a recent incident, it has been reported that Albertson was a passenger in the Terrain.
According to state police, the driver of the Malibu initiated a lane change into the path of the Terrain, resulting in the SUV’s driver losing control and spinning. This ultimately led to a collision between the two vehicles. In a dramatic turn of events, Albertson was forcefully ejected from the rolling Terrain.
In a recent incident, a vehicle identified as the Malibu veered off the roadway and ultimately came to a stop in a nearby field.
Albertson and the driver of the Terrain have been transported by air to University of Louisville Hospital for medical treatment. In a tragic turn of events, Albertson was declared deceased upon his arrival at the hospital.
The drivers who were involved in the crash, along with a juvenile passenger in the Malibu, have received medical treatment for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
According to her Facebook page, Albertson was a race car driver who competed at various tracks throughout central Indiana.
