One of the best things about Netflix is that you never know when your next obsession might rear its head.
For fans of romantic coming-of-age dramas, you’ll be left wondering how you ever lived without Hearstopper after you’ve raced through its eight episodes.
Developed by Alice Oseman and based on her webcomic and graphic novel of the same name, the series hit Netflix on Friday, April 22nd 2022 and plunged us into the world of Nick and Charlie as they grow to understand their feelings for one another.
It’s a universal tale of love, connection, and friendship that will resonate deeply while also encouraging some audiences to peel back the curtain on its stars, especially in regard to its leads.
So, are Kit Connor and Joe Locke together in real life?
Are Kit Connor and Joe Locke together?
No, neither Kit nor Joe has publicly announced that they are in a relationship and there has been no reason to suspect otherwise.
The pair’s on-screen chemistry has likely led to audiences growing so curious about their relationship in real life. Alas, Netflix Life reports that the talented actors are just friends – and really good at conveying romantic sparks, obviously.
Diving beyond this, it’s uncertain who Joe is dating, although Pop Buzz notes that he is very good friends with another of his Heartstopper co-stars, Sebastian Croft (who plays Ben).
Similarly, Kit Connor keeps his private life, well, exactly that. Private. Both of their social media suggest they’re single but it’s unlikely that fans will stop shipping them anytime soon.
‘It’s good to have the opposite end of the spectrum’
You may have heard some viewers arguing that Heartstopper is something of a perfect antidote to the bleakness of the teenage experience depicted in Euphoria.
This was something that 1883 Magazine asked Joe Locke during an interview:
“It’s good to have the opposite end of the spectrum, which is a show that depicts real things through an optimistic lens. We show bullying, we show the things teenagers face today, but it’s sort of through an optimistic lens. You can always see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
He added: “Our show is about knowing that it’s all going to be okay in the end.”
